Making an All White Furniture Typical Pop

Making an All White Furniture Typical Pop

If you haven’t already, check out my post below that has tips for rendering an all black task chair. A lot of these tips are similar, but all white has its own challenges. Really, any monochromatic furniture typical is going to be the most difficult to get the right contrast and lighting.

Here are my tips for getting all white typical to look dynamic and interesting.

Post Processing for CET Renderings

Post Processing for CET Renderings

Once you get a good rendering done, there are many ways to edit and manipulate in the post processing stage. Here are a few tips I use enhance and/ or manipulate my renderings.

First, create a high quality rendering with good lighting- the less post processing you have to do the better. For this purpose I rendered this image in 1920 x 1080 - 1080p. Make sure your Outline Overlay is selected as ON before you render. You can turn it off if you don’t like it, but it’s nice to have that option available.

How to create Photo Realistic renderings when you are short on time

The Blog Post contains tips for quickly setting up Photo Realistic Renderings.

I love beautiful renderings with all the architectural details like you see from the winning renderings from the CET Designer contest.  They are fun to do too!

However, the reality is, that if you are working for a dealership and you have an RFP due, time is (usually) not on your side.  You want a fabulous presentation, but need to get it done quickly.  Here are some tips I use in creating my photo realistic renderings for presentations.  These are steps I take once all the furniture has been laid out in the space.

CET EXPERIENCE 2019

In October 2019, I attended the CET Experience as a speaker. The entire conference was so much fun, and I learned so much! One thing I learned was that I really enjoy sharing my knowledge and experience with other designers. I decided to start this blog as a place to share some tips and tricks of things I have learned along the way. What better place to start, than with sharing the PDF presentation for the CET Experience: FINISHING STRONG! BEST PRACTICES FOR CREATING INSTALLATION PLANS. Here is a link to that presentation:

One note on that presentation… one of the tips I gave for labeling Furniture Tags showed using the Label Tool in paper space. However a couple of users in my session gave me an even better tip! Overlap 2 View ports in Paper Space with all your furniture tagging being done in the model view... Set the original viewport to print in black and white. Set the 2nd view port to print in color and turn off all layers except the text. It will slow your drawing down, but does work faster than labeling everything in Paper Space.

One change I am hoping to see in the future for CET Designer is more control over layering and printing of colors. We all need to turn those feature requests in!

Hope you find this presentation helpful!

Looking forward to sharing more information in 2020!

Yep, that’s me giving my presentation!
